Documentary Screening Helps Arkansas Consumers Lower Energy Bills and Use Energy Responsibly to Protect Our Health, Environment and Pocketbooks

Little Rock – A new documentary film designed to help consumers cut their energy bills and improve the quality of the environment is touring the United States.  The public is invited to view Kilowatt Ours: A Plan to Re-Energize America during a special screening at the Clinton Library, on October 6th.  The screening is in conjunction with the American Solar Energy Society's “National Solar Tour” and will include a presentation on solar energy by William Ball of the Arkansas Renewable Energy Association.

When: Saturday October 6th at 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM
Where: Great Hall, Clinton Library
Admission: $7.00

Kilowatt Ours is the story of filmmaker and conservationist Jeff Barrie's 18-month journey across the southeastern U.S. to document our energy-related problems and present practical, cost-saving solutions for consumers.  Widespread problems revealed in Kilowatt Ours include mountaintop removal, air pollution, global warming, childhood asthma, and mercury contamination.  The film illustrates practical solutions that help homeowners save more than $600 per year on energy bills while helping the environment and protecting human health.

In addition to the screening, William Ball will give a slide presentation on solar energy.  Various solar water heating and solar electric systems will be discussed, including off-grid and net-metering photovoltaic applications.  There will be a question and answer period following each presentation.  The screening and seminar will last approximately one and a half hours.

There will also be two solar homes in Little Rock that are part of the National Solar Tour.  These two homes, located at #21 and #29 Overlook Drive, will be open for touring from 10AM until 4PM.  Both homes feature solar water heating and hybrid PV systems that both net meter and provide battery backup power in the event of grid outages.  There is no admission fee to tour the homes.
