ARCAP Responds To New Climate Change Proposal
July 24, 2007

Little Rock, AR – Today, Don Richardson, Director of the Arkansas Climate Awareness Project, responded to the new climate change proposal introduced today by Senators Lincoln (D-AR), Warner(R-VA), Graham (R-SC), Landrieu (D-LA).

“The most important thing about any climate legislation is solving the problem as soon as possible. For far too long, concerns about cost to the economy have slowed the debate over how best to move forward on this global problem. This proposal represents an important step forward in that debate. By helping alleviate economic fears, the U.S. Senate should now be able to move forward in a constructive fashion towards finding real solutions to global climate change.

“This legislation will spur investment in clean and renewable technologies here in Arkansas. By embracing these new technologies, Arkansas can become a global energy leader which will help consumers across the state and across the nation.

“I applaud Senator Lincoln for becoming a leader in the climate debate and urge other Senators, especially her fellow Arkansas Senator, to join her. The sooner we all work together, the sooner we will actually solve this problem.”
